Families United 4 Justice Network (FU4J), is a growing nationwide collective of families impacted by police violence. Cephus “Uncle Bobby X” Johnson, uncle of police murder victim, Oscar Grant of Oakland California, co-founded the California chapter of FU4J in 2014, and the late Cynthia Howell, niece of police murder victim, Alberta Spruill of Harlem, New York, co-founded the New York chapter in 2014.  Cynthia Howell and Cephus “Uncle Bobby X” Johnson were featured panelists at a Forced Trajectory Project presentation at the Allied Media Conference in 2015, and the collaboration to create a joint national Families United 4 Justice network began.

This collaboration led us to organize our first FU4J National Network Gathering Conference that took place at the Allied Media Conference hosted by Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan last June 2017.

At our first self-organized National Network Gathering, we were joined by concerned citizens, community organizers, artists, legal services professionals, mental health care professionals and alternative healers, all collectively contribute to the discussion of police violence and mental health.  The experience was so fruitful that we have decided to expand our growth and network, and continue in the tradition of convening annually. This year we will be hosting our 2nd National Network Gathering Conference in Oakland, California, on June 28th-July 1st during same weekend of The Association of Black Psychologist 50 Anniversary Convention held in Oakland Ca.  Our goal is bridging the gap between families impacted by police violence with the Association of Black Psychologists in the United States and Internationally.

If you are a family member impacted by police violence or a community member that cares about this issue, please join us at this year Network Gathering. We ask that you  join FU4J Network. Impacted family membership has first priority when space is limited at the conference.  Space is limited to the first 75 paid registered attendees. All 75 paid registered attendees will receive all meals free during the conference, a banquet dinner ticket, FU4J T-shirt of the conference, and choice of Mental Health Professional, Massage therapy, yoga/mediation therapy, acupuncturist therapy, chiropractitioners therapy, artistic therapy. Those that did not make the first 75 paid registrant group can still attend but are responsible for their own meals and Banquet ticket.  If you are interested in attending this conference, you must complete the Registration form and pay the Registration Fees to guarantee your attendance.

If you are a supporter that would like to participate in an Act of solidarity for marginalized movements such as impacted families of police violence political movement for  Mental Health and police reforms. Despite the nationwide media attention on police violence over the last three decades, the impact of police violence on families and communities has hardly been unpacked and treated. Like divestment campaigns such as the BDS Movement to boycott corporations that support the continued colonization of Palestine, and the grape boycott by United Farm Workers spearheaded by civil rights activists Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez (which concluded with higher pay for farm workers), solidarity actions of fundraising, donating, and divesting can be effective in social change. To donate your health modality and share your Families United 4 Justice shirt size,  please complete form here.
