Benefits of Network Membership

Access to other Impacted family organizations One of the primary benefits of membership in the Families United 4 Justice Network is access to families and organizations who are participating in the same police violence justice work. Members of the Network communicate with and learn from one another via private email listservs,  Regional Representatives, and an annual Network Gathering Conference. Network members share their legal expertise, circulate relevant resources, provide consultation with newly impacted police victims families, and offer other support to one another.

Services from the FU4J Network Executive Support Unit The Network Executive Support Unit (NESU) is housed within the FU4J Network and helps facilitate the work of the Network. The NESU also offers support and mentorship to families Network members and  families organizations related to organizational development issues such as fundraising, website development, how to become a 501c3, and strategic activist planning. In addition to these customized trainings and other one-on-one support, the NESU creates resources addressing issues of interest to all Network members.

Access to the FU4J Justice Fund, still under development. The NESU administers the FU4J Justice Fund, which is a grant that provides support to all impacted families represented by FU4J Network member organizations upon the family traumatic loss of loved one. The funds  are intended to offer immediate support to the impacted family in the days following the family traumatic loss.

Discounted registration rate for the annual FU4J Network Gathering Conference While the conference (which is organized by the NESU) is open to the public, all families of Network membership and organizations membership are eligible for a discounted registration rate.

Use of the “FU4J Network” trademark The name “FU4J Network” is a federally-registered trademark owned by the Families United 4 justice, Inc.  Families United 4 Justice Network, Inc. grants use of the trademark, through a license agreement, to those members of the Network which seek to use the term “FU4J Network” as part of its legal name, or otherwise use the mark. In order to use the “FU4J Network” name or trademark, organizations must apply to and be accepted in the Network, and sign the license agreement. In some special cases, and in the sole discretion of the FU4J Network, Inc., permission to use the mark may be granted to organizations that are not members of the Network, or may not be granted to a particular member in the Network.

Expectations of all Network members. All Network members should pay a monthly membership dues of $5.00 per month, or a one time payment of $50.00 per year.

All Network members must complete an annual report survey. Each year, the NESU sends out an online survey of about 20 questions pertaining to the work of each Network member organization. The Network uses this survey to assess the health and wellness of the Network, identify trends, and flag any particular network member organizations that may require additional assistance from the NESU or other Network leaders.

All Network members must agree to abide by the Memorandum of Understanding that details the relationship between the FU4J  Network and FU4J Network, Inc.
